Chore Chart Idea

When our kids were still at home, we did chores for a month at a time. To start things off, we had a family meeting to create a master list of all the chores that need to be done on a regular basis. Then, on a dry-erase board that was a blank calendar with extra room on the left side for writing note, we wrote our names down the side, and entered the chores on different days of the week, (i.e., one child’s may have said: Saturday-bathroom, Monday-clear and wipe table, Tuesday-bathroom touch-up, Thursday-gather and take out trash). Everyone got two days "off," which are “free” days if the chores are done, or they can be used as a make-up day. It's helpful if one kid's core is not dependent upon another kid doing theirs (i.e., sweep and mop - what if the sweeper doesn't sweep?) We’d then rotate the names every month. Chores had to be FULLY complete before the next person took over (i.e., the litter box had to be scooped and sanitized). It worked so well for our family and I hope it’ll work for yours!
